Woman injured in shooting incident

A 49-year-old woman has been shot in the leg at a house in Sheffield.She was taken to hospital with an injury to her lower leg after a gun was fired in the house in Totley Hall Croft, Totley, just before 9.30pm on Tuesday.

South Yorkshire Police said the attack involved as many as three men who used a dark-coloured 4x4 vehicle.

Three other family members, all men, were at the house at the time of the shooting but were not hurt.

Detective Chief Inspector Zaf Ali said: "We have launched an investigation into this incident and appeal to the public for information.

"This type of crime is very unusual in the Totley area.

"At this stage of our investigation, we do not believe this was a random attack and will be working with partner agencies to reassure any members of the community who have concerns."
