Woman’s body discovered on industrial site

Have your say

A police investigation was under- way yesterday after a woman’s remains were found on overgrown industrial land.

The skeleton was found on Monday morning on a site off Hallen Road, Avonmouth, Bristol.

The site has been disused since 2007 and has become overgrown but clearing work has recently got underway and it was during this that the remains were found.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Crisp, who is leading the investigation, said: “At present it is being treated as an unexplained death.

“We are awaiting the results of further forensic tests, including looking at the possibility of any DNA evidence which may help us discover who she is.”

The woman was around 5ft 4in, of medium build and probably aged between 30 and 45.

“The forensic examinations so far indicate that the remains could have been on site for up to eight years,” the officer said.
