But she was allowed home just hours later after suffering a minor head injury, scratches, bruises, and swelling to her back, elbows and knees.

Miss Dybacz, who lives in Sheffield, said: “I was at the bus stop waiting to go to university, that’s the last thing I remember.

“The next thing I knew they were putting me on to the boards to go into the ambulance.

People said the tree had hit me and I fell backwards after trying to move out of the way.

“It was a shock to wake up in the ambulance. I just kept saying, ‘this is so surreal’. I was really lucky.”

A passer-by dialled 999 after the drama last Thursday morning and also rang Miss Dybacz’s boyfriend, Thomas Chamberlain.

Miss Dybacz, who is now recovering at her parents’
house in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, said: “My dad went to pick up my stuff and bought back a bit of the wood with him as a souvenir – he said we could make a chopping board out of it.

“If I wasn’t laughing I would be crying. The tree hit me, but it could have hit a child.”
