Woman's body pulled from pond

A PENSIONER’S body was pulled from a pond in Hoyle Mill, Barnsley, yesterday morning.

The body, which is thought to be that of a woman in her early 70s, was spotted by a fisherman in Dearne Valley Park shortly before 9am. A police spokesman said they were not treating the death as suspicious. The body has yet to be officially identified.

Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination was also carried out yesterday on the body of a woman found in a Sheffield flat on Sunday.

The woman, in her 50s, was found in the living room of a flat in Leighton Drive, Gleadless. Police were alerted by a neighbour at about 3.10pm.
