The 2016 Women in Business Awards are launched today as judges hunt for the UK’s most inspirational business leaders.

The awards, organised by business networking group Forward Ladies, are open to business women throughout the country, and cover categories from start up to not for profit to inspiring leaders.

Women can either nominate themselves or be nominated by a colleague or business associate. Deadline for entries is June 3.

The Yorkshire Post is media partner.

Last year’s national winner was Alexa Greaves, of AAG Systems in Sheffield, who set up her IT and infrastructure business in 2009.

She said: “I think it’s really important that women receive the recognition they deserve and hope that my achievements will also inspire other women in this industry.”

Regional heats for the awards will be held in Newcastle upon Tyne, Birmingham, London and Manchester.

All category winners from each region will then compete for the overall title of the Business Woman of the Year at the national final to be held in Leeds in December.

The awards, which are sponsored by HSBC, are now in their seventh year. Other sponsors this year include Yorkshire Water, Saville AV, Leeds Beckett University, LCF Law, CarrWood Park and Common Purpose.

Forward Ladies managing director Griselda Togobo said: “Our mission has always been to encourage, support and develop women in their careers, and the awards are an opportunity to showcase success and inspire others to achieve their goals
