Work to begin on scheme to stop landslips
The 10-week project will start on Tuesday along the A639’s eastbound carriageway in Stourton, the scene of a major landslip in 2007.
Leeds City Council says it wants to provide a “suitable and safe” solution to subsidence near the Valley Park roundabout.

A single-lane closure will be in force during the remainder of the scheme, which will see the creation of a 50-metre retaining wall.
Coun Richard Lewis, the council’s executive board member with responsibility for development and the economy, said: “There may be some disruption to motorists over this 10-week period, but I would ask people to be patient.”
