Workers urged to use bikes to cut tailbacks

SOME of York’s biggest employers are competing to get staff cycling to work in a scheme to reduce traffic tailbacks on the city’s congested roads network.

York Council has launched the free cycle competition in the hope of getting more of the city’s workforce to opt to use a bicycle on their daily commute instead of a car.

Among the companies which have signed up to this year’s initiative are Aviva, CPP, Nestle UK and the Shepherd Group as well as York University and the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
