Bilboa gets to see a bigger picture

aN exhibition displaying David Hockney’s love of landscape has reached Bilbao where 150 of the artist’s work will be on display at the Guggenheim Museum until September.

In prime place among the works included in A Bigger Picture, which was a massive draw at the Royal Academy of Arts in London earlier this year, are the artist’s bright Yorkshire landscapes including the mammoth The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011 , which is featured in an installation comprising 32 canvas paintings and 51 prints of iPad drawings.

The exhibition, the first major show of Hockney’s works in Spain, includes oil paintings, sketches, his digital artworks, and videos, as well as earlier works dating as far back as his student days in the 1950s. The artist, above, is in Bilbao for today’s opening.
