British man dies in plunge from hotel window

Media reports said he was a diplomat and that his death was a suicide.

The man died at about noon yesterday after falling from the seventh floor of the hotel in the city of Baia Mare. A police spokeswoman said an investigation was under way but declined to provide further information.

Realitatea TV reported that the man was a diplomat at the British Embassy and broadcast images of a body in a white sheet being put into a vehicle.

British Embassy spokeswoman Raluca Bragarea declined to comment on the media reports.
