Couple caught on camera moments before rhino attack

THIS picture was taken seconds before a safari tourist on safari was seriously injured by a rhino after a wildlife expert told her to stand nearer to it for a photograph.

As the Yorkshire Post reported yesterday, Chantal Beyer, 24, from Johannesburg said the game park owner snapped pictures and suggested that she “stand just a little bit closer” seconds before the attack, by the closest rhino.

The picture, which was provided by family member Thom Peetere, shows Chantal Beyer and her husband Sven Fouche, left, posing for a photograph only feet away from two rhinos at the Aloe Ridge Nature Reserve near Johannesburg, South Africa. Just after the picture was taken, the rhino attacked, and its horn penetrated Ms Beyers’ chest from behind, resulting in a collapsed lung and broken ribs.
