Ex-CIA director
keeps low profile following affair

Former CIA Director David Petraeus was kept away from the media when he faced politicians over the attack on the US Consulate in Libya – just one week after he resigned over an affair.

The retired four-star Army general, one of the country’s most respected military leaders, was brought before the House Intelligence Committee and then its Senate counterpart through a network of underground hallways leading to a secure room.

Gen Petraeus is under investigation by the CIA over claims his affair compromised security, though that wasn’t the subject of the closed-door hearings in Washington.
