Gunman kills five before shooting himself

The man opened fire in a city cafe and music venue, leaving four dead, then killed a woman in an apparent carjacking as he fled.

One man wounded in the cafe shooting remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Gunfire erupted late on Wednesday morning at Café Racer, north of the University of Washington. Local schools were locked down as a manhunt began.

Police said the suspect apparently shot himself after being traced in the south west of the city. Police said the man put a gun to his head as officers approached. He died later in hospital.
