Homes feel power of floods

HOUSES in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, were moved off their foundations by flood water which swept through the area.

Water levels exceeded the most serious recent flooding, in 1972, and yesterday came close to matching the record which was set in 1904. Bloomsburg is regularly affected by floods because of its position, but the recent problems in Pennsylvania have so far claimed five lives, including that of an eight-year-old boy who was swept away.
