Mine Gott

At first sight, this rollercoaster built atop a man-made mountain in Germany looks not for the faint-hearted.

But visitors to the Tiger and Turtle in Duisberg’s Angerpark will be able to keep their eyes on the magnificent views over the Rhine as they negotiate what is, in fact, a walkable sculpture set atop a mining waste tip in the former industrial Ruhr region.

Designed by Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth, the Tiger and Turtle took more than a year to create and includes a curved flight of stairs mimicking the curves and rises of a rollercoaster.

Only the looping is inaccessible, with a security officer warning even Usain Bolt (three times Olympic gold medallist in 100m and 200m) would not be quick enough to run through it. The landmark sculpture is made from tin, zinc and steel.
