Troops do their bit for Dales charity in Gangnam Style

Troops have been showcasing their pop star talent in a music video for charity.

The soldiers, from the headquarters and support squadron of 21 Engineer Regiment, deployed on operations in Afghanistan, have come up with their own version of Psy’s Gangnam Style, but with a bit of an Afghan twist.

They hope the video will help raise money for Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team.

With Christmas fast approaching, one soldier is dressed as a turkey and there is even a bit of tinsel thrown in.

Dwaine Fletcher, vice-chairman of the mountain rescue team, said he was delighted by the video, which yesterday had raised almost £3,000 for the charity.

“For them to choose us as a charity has been fantastic,” he said.

Yesterday soldiers serving in Afghanistan over the festive season were given a morale boost when they received a visit from the Princess Royal.

She flew into Camp Bastion to be shown around by a number of units to see the work they are doing.
