Worst town is now top league

Once voted the worst place to live in the UK, Hull has now featured in the best places to live survey in The Sunday Times.

A decade ago the city came top of the Crap Towns list, but according to the newspaper, which praises its Premier league team and “excellent” Deep aquarium, “is full of hidden surprises.” Its crowning as City of Culture 2017 is “already having a knock-on effect with lots of investment coming”. Peter Aarosin, of the Bondholders marketing organisation, said: “It’s clear that more and more people are recognising that it offers a fantastic combination of high quality of life and low cost of living.”
