Would you Adam and Eve it?

Members of the York Mystery Plays project pair up at St Mary’s Abbey to highlight the hunt for the city’s answer to Adam and Eve.

Auditions for next year’s production – the first to be take place in the Museum Gardens for more than two decades and set to attract more than 30,000 – begin this weekend.

The plays will be staged in a purpose-built 1,500-seat outdoor theatre, with the abbey acting as a backdrop. The main purpose of the auditions is to recruit several lead roles, including some of the most famous couples in history such as Mary and Joseph and Adam and Eve.
