X Factor judge Cowell joins Who's Who roll

The X Factor judge Simon Cowell is among the new entries in the latest edition of Who's Who.

More than 1,000 notable people are included in the 163rd version of the society tome for the first time, including all 232 new MPs.

Among them is Louise Bagshawe, whose autobiographical entry includes details of the many chick-lit novels she has written.

Pamela Nash MP and Stephen Wharton MP become the youngest of the non-hereditary new entrants, both being born in 1984.

Actor Hugh Bonneville, who starred in ITV drama Downton Abbey, reveals in his entry that his favourite hobbies are "getting cross about health and safety".

Music executive Cowell uses his entry to admit that as well as Leona Lewis and Susan Boyle, he was responsible for giving Robson and Jerome a record deal.

Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting producer Danny Boyle, who is artistic director of the London Olympics opening ceremony, also gets a nod. Hairdresser Vidal Sassoon and fashion designer Matthew Williamson are mentioned too.

In the world of sport, Olympic gold-medal winning cyclist Bradley Wiggins and Philip Lane, chief executive officer of the British Paralympic Association, are included.
