Yobs attack six cars in market town

Motorists were counting the cost yesterday after six cars were damaged in a vandalism spree in a market town.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the string of attacks on vehicles in which a shop window was also smashed in Norton, Malton.

The incidents happened in the early hours of Wednesday. The vandals struck at around 3:30am, targeting six vehicles parked in Parliament Street.

The yobs stood on the bonnets and kicked the windscreens, causing them to crack. The window of the Country Warmth Kitchen Shop was also broken.

Pc Mick Hancock, said: "This is a pointless act of mindless criminal damage which has caused a lot of inconvenience to innocent members of the public.

"We are determined to bring those responsible to justice.

"We realise that so early in the morning, there will not have been many people around.
