Yobs attack two trains

YOBS pelted two trains with stones, smashing one of the windscreens, as they passed along a stretch of track north of Chesterfield.

British Transport Police yesterday issued an appeal for information after the two incidents, which took place at 4.30pm and 8pm on Sunday, April 15.

Pc Ewan Brechin said stones were thrown at the 15.06 Leeds to Nottingham service, and the 17.52 Liverpool to Norwich train.

He said: “The stones thrown at the Northern Rail service hit the train but no damage was caused, while the East Midlands train has to be taken out of service while the windscreen was fixed.”
