In the first, a man and a woman were walking along Newborough Street at about 11.45pm last Friday when they were approached by three men riding bikes from the direction of Shipton Street.

One of the trio head-butted the male victim in the face, produced a knife and demanded the man's wallet.

During the second incident, which took place very soon afterwards, a man was approached on Grosvenor Road by three men on bicycles.

One of them produced a knife and demanded the victim hand over his wallet.

The victim, who was aged in his 20s, did as he was asked and the three men cycled off towards Scarborough Terrace.
