York residents urged on be on guard against cold callers

YORK residents have been warned to be on their guard against cold callers after a sneak-in burglary and reports of a bogus window cleaner.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing to members of the public to contact them if anyone had offered to clean there windows in the York area, particularly in Huntington.

Police believe a number of people have been targeted by cold callers at their door asking for cash to clean windows. They also want anyone who sees an incident in progress to contact them.

The appeal comes as police investigate a sneak-in burglary in the Old Village, Huntington, during which cash was stolen from a wallet between 10am and 12pm on Sunday July 26. Officers are urging residents to be on their guard and ensure they keep their doors locked, even when they are at home.
