The business management course will be delivered by Sheffield University but three of the four years of the course will be taught in Shanghai at the Sino-British College campus.

The college is run by a partnership of universities from the North of England including Sheffield, Bradford, Huddersfield, Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan and Sheffield Hallam.

It teaches 1,500 students in Shanghai and offers students the chance to complete a year at one of the English universities involved.

The new four-year course will see students complete two years in China before spending a year in Sheffield and then returning to Shanghai.

Sheffield University vice chancellor Professor Keith Burnett said: “The Sino-British College is one of only three institutions in China to have been awarded a licence by the Chinese Government to deliver full UK degrees taught entirely in English in their country. The university has a long-term commitment to developing stronger academic relations with China.

“I look forward to building on this relationship and to seeing our students graduate with their degrees in the near future.”

Principal of the Sino-British College Professor Ian Gow said: “We look forward to working closely with Sheffield University’s internationally recognised School of Management and to providing further support to Sheffield in its teaching and research strategy for Shanghai and for China.”
