Yorkshire dates for gardening tips

TWO Yorkshire recording dates have been announced for BBC Radio 4 programme Gardeners’ Question Time, with the first programme taking place in Barnsley later this week.

A panel of horticultural experts will appear at Wentworth Castle Gardens on Wednesday before moving onto to Clapham in North Yorkshire the following week.

The programme has been invited to Wentworth by the Stainborouogh Park Heritage Trust and will appear in Clapham at the invitation of a local society.

A BBC spokesman said: “Our programmes are hosted by various groups, mainly gardening clubs and horticultural societies, and it’s the group which invites the programme that is responsible for the distribution of the tickets.

“Although groups tend to give the tickets to their own members first there’s usually enough space to include non-members.”

Gardeners’ Question Time was first broadcast in April 1947 under the title How Does Your Garden Grow?

Tickets for both dates cost £2.50. To book a place for the Barnsley event contact Wentworth Castle Gardens on 01226 776040. For the Clapham event call David Kingsley on 01524 251240.
