The Yorkshire Dales National Park and York are among the top ten places to go on holiday in the UK, according to a national ‘staycation’ survey.
The stunning landscape and historic city were voted in at numbers seven and nine in a poll of 3,000 people carried out by Travelodge.
Julie Barker, the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s head of recreation, tourism and outreach, said: “This is great news for the national park, especially as it follows on from our own survey that showed that the number of visitors and the amount they spend here have grown over the last two years.
“We know it is great place for a holiday or short break and it is good to see others discovering us, particularly after the fantastic coverage of the area at last year’s Tour de France.”
Cornwall topped the list in the 2015 Travelodge Holiday Index which revealed 70 per cent of Britons are planning a ‘staycation’ break this year.
