Yorkshire driver falls asleep at wheel and slams car into HGV

A Yorkshire driver who fell asleep at the wheel had a miraculous escape after slamming into a HGV lorry.

The driver of this Volkswagen - which was utterly wrecked in the smash - has been reported by police after the incident.

The smash happened on the A1M near Boroughbridge in North Yorkshire.

Fortunately, no-one was injured in the incident.

A spokesman for the force said that falling asleep at the wheel 'has led to some catastrophic crashes' and urged tired drivers to always take regular breaks.

@NYorksRPG said: "The result of the driver falling asleep and colliding with an HGV on the A1m nr Boroughbridge. Fortunately no injuries, driver reported.

"If you feel tired you should take a break, falling asleep at the wheel has resulted in some catastrophic collisions"
