Yorkshire firm helps to light up the skies

HUNDREDS of beacons made by a Barnsley company will burn across the UK next month as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Cutting Technologies, which laser cuts and engraves a range of materials, has worked with designers Bullfinch to make components for 500 diamond-shaped liquid paraffin gas burners which will light up churches and other buildings.

Beacons will be lit across the country and the rest of the Commonwealth on Monday, June 4, with various lighting ceremonies being held at hundreds of locations across Yorkshire and the Humber.

Jane Robinson, co-founder of Cutting Technologies, said: “We’re very honoured to be part of this manufacturing process and to play a part in such a momentous and historic occasion.”
