The Yorkshire Post says: Film industry puts region in the spotlight

For those fortunate enough to live in Yorkshire, it is no secret exactly how much the region has to offer; from stunning cities to beautiful coastline and dramatic countryside. But the mission by the county's tourism chiefs to attract more visitors has undoubtedly been assisted by its growing popularity with filmmakers.

The likes of the Harry Potter film series, the Dad’s Army remake and ITV’s Victoria are among the many major productions to have used Yorkshire as a location in recent years, and Screen Yorkshire estimates the industry has accounted for some £120 million of the turnover of tourism-related companies.

The impact has not quite reached the same level as in Cornwall, where people have been advised to use different beaches to avoid overcrowding at Kynance Cove and Porthcurno Beach, places made popular by Poldark. But with many more productions planned in the region, Yorkshire is more than ready for its share of the spotlight.
