The Yorkshire Post says: In praise of Lord Lieutenant's legacy
As West Yorkshire's new Lord Lieutenant Ed Anderson prepares to take up the prestigious post this weekend, it is to his credit he has taken the opportunity to praise the extraordinary work of his predecessor Dame Ingrid Roscoe, who is leaving the role today after 14 years.
The ancient office of Lord Lieutenant, which can be traced back to Tudor times, entails considerable responsibility upon its holder, whose role involves escorting royal visitors to the county, representing The Queen at events and presenting honours on behalf of the Crown. Dame Ingrid combined her long-standing time in the post with a host of voluntary roles for notable local organisations such as Yorkshire Historic Churches and the National Mining Museum.
She has been an excellent ambassador for the region and Mr Anderson, who is chairman of the Airport Operators’ Association and Pro Chancellor at Leeds Trinity University, promises to be a worthy successor.
