Yorkshire teenager filmed violent petrol attack on ex girlfriend

A court heard Nathaniel Goodison used an iPad to record the violence and may have broadcast it live on the internet.

Leeds Crown Court heard the 17-year-old victim was attacked after splitting up with Goodison and she had a relationship with his brother.

Goodison turned violent after going to her home in Roundhay, Leeds, on March 3 this year to collect his clothes but drank alcohol and took cocaine.

The 18-year-old repeatedly punched her hard in the face and threatened to throw her out of a window.

He then filmed the assault as he stamped on her head and kicked her to the body.

Louise Pryke, prosecuting, said the victim felt as though she was in a “freak show” and thought the attack was being broadcast via Snapchat.

Neighbours heard the attack as the victim pleaded with Goodison to stop.

Goodison then took out a two litre milk bottle filled with petrol and poured it over her. He told her: “I’m going to set the house on fire and I’m going to burn you alive.”

Some of the flammable liquid went over her face and she felt a burning sensation all over her body at it was poured on her.

She managed to run from the house when Goodison left the room as she believed he had gone looking for a lighter.

Miss Pryke added: “She ran for her life and says that her body felt as though it was burning.”

Despite the severity of the attack, the victim did not suffer serious injuries.

Goodison, of Stanks Drive, Stanks, Leeds, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and making threats to kill.

He was sent to a young offenders institution for 16 months.

Mark McKone, for Goodison, said his client accepted that he would be going to custody because of the serious level of violence used.

Judge Guy Kearl, QC, said: “This was a most serious and dangerous attack by you. You intended to cause her to fear for her life.

“Fortunately the injuries were not the most serious.”
