Yorkshire weather: Cold and frosty start to the week but expect milder temperatures on Friday

The cold snap which brought heavy snow to some parts of Yorkshire over the weekend looks set to continue throughout the opening part of this week - but it seems any possible snow will now turn to rain.

Today:

Cold and cloudy throughout the day. Outbreaks of rain in the morning, falling as snow over hills, but becoming mainly dry in the afternoon with some brightness possible in the south. Light winds throughout the day. Maximum Temperature 3°C.

Tonight:

Cold and cloudy overnight, with some patchy rain in the evening, mainly in the north. Becoming dry by the early hours of Tuesday, with frost and ice forming. Minimum Temperature 0°C.

Tuesday:

Cold and cloudy again, and dry for most of the day, with just some light patchy rain spreading from the north by evening. Light winds throughout the day. Maximum Temperature 4°C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Wednesday cloudy and cold again, but dry with some brightness possible. Thursday cold and dry with sunny spells and increasing winds. Friday wet and windy, and gradually turning milder.
