Yorkshire's police helicopter team apologise for noise after calls from public

They said that they received a number of calls on Friday evening when the helicopter was airborne.

It comes on the back of the team apologising for the noise created when the helicopter was used to help track two burglary suspects over Garforth.In a tweet, the West Yorkshire Police Contact Centre said: "We've received a number of calls this evening regarding @NPASCarrGate being airborne The helicopter is a valuable police resource that we use in considered circumstances. Apologies if it's waking you up but it is necessary to fight & reduce crime in your area #gettothechopper."

The national Police Air Service also tweeted to apologise for flying at a lower distance than usual, saying that air traffic around Leeds Bradford Airport meant they had to.

They said: "We sincerely apologise to anyone who heard us for the last few hours, we had to fly at that level becuase of air traffic going into Leeds Bradford Airport.....we don't mean to be so loud and we are currently looking to purchase a silencer for the aircraft. Sorry again!"
