Yorkshire's police helicopter team apologises for noise after catching two burglars

The operators of Yorkshire's police helicopter apologised for the noise 'first thing' in the morning after searching for two burglary suspects.

NPAS Carr Gate, a police helicopter which flies all over Yorkshire, was in Garforth in the early hours to assist in the search for suspects after a spate of burglaries in the area at the weekend.

A post on the NPAS Carr Gate Facebook said: "Good Morning from your day crew, firstly apologies for the noise over Garforth first thing this morning, we were assisting in a search for suspects following a number of burglaries in the area, 2 persons are currently in custody."

Of course, residents were only too happy for a bit of noise in the name of crime prevention.

"No apology needed for keeping us all safe", said one reply.

If it was my loved ones who were missing, you could make as much noise as you needed for as long as you needed. I never got why people complain about the noise. If you lift it's for a reason, not cos you were all bored and fancied a quick heli trip!"

Police added that over the last 24 hours, the helicopter has been to:

"Mansfield; Woodthorpe, Sheffield; Sheffield Centre; Rossington, Doncaster; dispatched to both Durham and Middlesborough, (cancelled en-route as both missing people were located) Cleckheaton & Garforth.

"A mixture of both vehicle and suspect searches, with one vehicle and 3 suspects located through out the day."
