As you were for rural council

THE CONSERVATIVES have remained in charge of Craven Council after the party won all four of the seats it was defending at this year’s count.

Voters went to the polls in more than half of the 19 wards on the district council and returned the same party in every seat.

As a result the Conservatives retain 18 seats, independent candidates take up eight seats on the council while the Liberal Democrats have four. The only change in councillors came in the Gargrave and Malhamdale ward where new candidate Simon Myers successfully defended a seat for the Conservatives.

The Labour Party put up candidates in eight out of the ten wards being contested on Craven Council this year but failed to win a single seat.
