Young driver seriously injured in Sheffield collision

A 20-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after he was injured in a collision involving two cars in Sheffield.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which occurred in Hopefield Avenue, in the Frecheville area of the city, at about 7.10pm on Monday.

A silver BMW and a blue Audi were both travelling towards Birley Moor Road when the collision happened, leaving the BMW driver seriously injured.

A passenger in the BMW, an 18-year-old man, and the driver of the Audi, a 24-year-old man, both suffered minor injuries and were also taken to hospital.

A third car, a green Fiat, which was parked on Hopefield Avenue, was damaged as a result of the incident.

Anyone who saw the collision or either vehicle before it happened, is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 874 of 18 January 2016.
