Young with winning ways
AN ANNUAL awards to mark the achievements of the region’s young people was launched yesterday by former winners, Yorkshire actress Malandra Burrows and schoolboy George Stocker.
The Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards recognises the efforts of people aged under 35 who were born, live or work in the region. The seven categories include Personality of the Year and Unsung Hero. George, 12, of Little Ribston, near Wetherby, was the 2010 Youngster of the Year. He has raised nearly £50,000 for children’s cancer charity Candlelighters after battling a brain tumour.
