Youngsters protest against university cutbacks

Protesters took to the streets of Leeds on Saturday over youth unemployment and in support of lecturers fighting cuts at Leeds University.

The demonstration was called by Youth Fight for Jobs, whose chairman Ben Robinson said: 'Hard working university staff that students depend on are being made redundant whilst at the same time the bankers are set to receive jaw dropping levels of bonuses once more.'

Members of the University and College Union at Leeds University said they plan to strike on Thursday next week and again on two days in early March in protest against threatened cuts of 35m this year.
