Your tributes to Rothwell schoolgirl, 14, hit by car in east Leeds

Dozens of our readers have sent messages of condolence to the family of a Rothwell schoolgirl hit by a car on a grass verge in Colton.

The 14-year-old was knocked down as she walked along Bullerthorpe Lane at around 4.45pm on Monday.

She was taken to hospital and died yesterday as a result of her serious injuries.

Police are yet to release her name, but a number of floral tributes to Amelia have been left at the scene.

Writing on our Facebook page, Zowiealan Osborne said: “This is really sad. My nephew was there and it was his girlfriend that died... the driver stayed there so please all that think the driver drove off, this is not correct. She stayed and all that were there are very traumatised x we are there for my nephew and my thoughts are with Amelia’s family xx”

Several of those posting messages knew Amelia and described her as funny, kind and clever.
