International breaks may be off the table for the foreseeable future, but surely a day out to a theme park is on the cards?

Here's everything we know about when theme park resorts could be reopening, including official word from some of the top attractions in the country:

When will theme parks reopen?

Browsing the websites of some of Britain’s top theme parks, it looks as if the date many of the expect to be operational again is Saturday 4 July.

That’s the date on which the UK Government expects to be able to move to ‘Step Three’ of its removing of lockdown restrictions, reopening remaining businesses and premises that have been required to close, including leisure facilities.

As always, the guidance is subject to change, and don’t expect your visit to be as it was this time last year.

“Venues which are, by design, crowded and where it may prove difficult to enact distancing may still not be able to re-open safely at this point, or may be able to open safely only in part,” say the Government.

Tickets for the Gardens need to be pre-booked in advance before visiting, and a number of additional hygiene and safety measures have been introduced which you’ll see in place when you visit.

Legoland say a day out or overnight stay at their Windsor resort “will feel a little different to before” when they reopen on 4 July.

“Everything we are introducing is with your safety, and our team’s safety, as our top priority,” they say.

“In preparation for reopening we have reviewed how we operate every single part of the Park and Hotels to make sure that you have a brilliant, safe visit.”

When the park does reopen, expect pre-book ticket systems to manage visitor numbers and different seating arrangements on rides.
