Ainscough set for his Castleford debut

CASTLEFORD TIGERS coach Terry Matterson admits his side will immediately look to harness the obvious strength of their new signing tonight.

Speedy winger Shaun Ainscough debuts against Hull KR at The Jungle after arriving on loan from Wigan Warriors.

Matterson concedes the Tigers will miss broken leg victim Richard Owen but his replacement can make an instant impact.

"I'm looking forward to seeing how Shaun Ainscough goes," he said. "He is a young guy but has shown his promise and with bags of pace we need to try and make sure that he gets some good ball."

Ainscough, 20, was prolific with Wigan at the start of last season but has since seen his career falter and has recently been farmed out to Widnes on a dual-contract for their Northern Rail Cup campaign.

Matterson, meanwhile, is expecting a big response from his squad after their below-par loss at Bradford.

"We had set really high standards winning at Headingley and weren't too far off that mark when we played Warrington but last week we slipped and paid the price," he said.

"The guys themselves were very disappointed and I'm sure that will be a big spur for them on Saturday because they are very determined to get back to winning ways."

Under-pressure Rovers have shipped 62 points in back-to-back defeats against Wigan and Huddersfield, scoring just a solitary try in the process.

Justin Morgan will hope ex-Australian Test prop Joel Clinton can bring some steel on his debut after finally arriving from Brisbane Broncos.

Huddersfield Giants aim to build on their 30-0 success over Rovers by inflicting defeat on visitors Warrington Wolves tomorrow in a repeat of last season's Challenge Cup final, but coach Nathan Brown realises they face a far sterner examination of their credentials.

"Warrington's last game versus Wigan was probably the best I've seen played over here since I arrived," said the Australian, who won Super League Coach of the year in his debut 2009 campaign.

"It was a tough, physical game that was played with the same intensity throughout.

"Warrington are clearly a quality opposition and are going really well but we know if we can keep improving we will be in with a shot."
