Allen point off £147,000 pot

Leading 3-2 against Mark Davis in their second-round match, the 24-year-old Irishman produced an almost perfect score in frame six.

After five reds and blacks, he lost position and had to settle for a pink before resuming normal service and clearing up for a 146.

It is the highest break of the tournament so far and left Allen a point shy of a 147,000 bonus for a maximum haul.

World No 11 Allen finished the opening session 5-3 ahead. Their match will resume this morning.
