Andrew Hambleton joins Leeds Force ahead of new season

Leeds Force have announced the signing of British guard Andrew Hambleton for the fast approaching British Basketball season.

The 6ft 4ins product of the South Gloucestershire College was also part of the Loughborough University basketball programme before returning to Bristol to play for the Flyers last season, where he averaged 0.6 points and 0.6 rebounds per game in just five minutes of court time.

Hambleton is looking forward to getting started at Leeds. He said: “I’m very excited for the upcoming season and for the opportunity to become a Leeds Force player.

“After speaking with (coach) Mika Turunen I feel that his style of coaching and his coaching pedigree is very much suited to how I like to play and I’m excited for my own personal development. I am also determined to make a positive impact on the team’s overall success this season.”

The signing comes hot on the heels of George Brownell’s switch to the Force from Sheffield Sharks.

The 23-year-old guard joined the club on Tuesday and will make his debut against the Bradford Dragons on Sunday, September 10.

Leeds Force’s 2017/18 season tips off against Esh Group Eagles Newcastle on Friday, Septemberc 29 at the Carnegie Sports Arena.
