Baltacha cruises through in Seoul

TENNIS: Elena Baltacha swept into the second round of the Korea Open with victory over home favourite Kim So-jung in Seoul yesterday.

The Briton saw off her opponent 6-3 6-4 in one hour and 34 minutes, converting five of her six break points.

Kim had eight break opportunities but was only able to take two of them.

Baltacha next faces either eighth-seeded Hungarian Agnes Szavay or Polona Hercog of Slovenia.

Beverley’s Katie O’Brien was beaten in straight sets by Ekaterina Ivanova in the first round of the WTA Tashkent Open yesterday, 5-7 1-6.
