Barber hat-trick takes YMCA to top

Huddersfield YMCA took top place with their second bonus-point victory, running out 39-14 winners at West Park Leeds.

West Park took an early lead, but YMCA hit back with a hat-trick of tries by centre Ed Barber.

West Leeds, after turning round 24-19 down, took control to run out 53-39 winners against visitors Hullensians.

Danny Thorp, West Leeds' 18-year-old winger, scored a hat-trick of tries. Campbell Breakwell kicked four conversions and a penalty and Dale Breakwell, making his debut at 17, added another conversion.

Ripon, Pocklington and Skipton are holding second, third and fourth places, all with two wins and one bonus point.

Ripon beat Old Rishworthians 35-8, Pocklington emerged 33-23 winners at Yarnbury and Skipton won 29-18 at home to Leodiensians.

Barnsley and Doncaster Phoenix battled out a 24-24 draw, but tries from Tom Elliott, Mick Byrne, Billy Farley and Henry Taylor gave Phoenix a bonus point.
