Battle to be the top jockey hotting up

cheltenham: AP McCoy fought back in the race to be crowned top jockey with a 34-1 double on day three.

The perennial champion jockey drew a blank on the first two days of the showpiece meeting, but partnered Noble Prince to victory in the inaugural running of the Jewson Novices’ Chase and followed up with a repeat win on Albertas Run in the Ryanair Chase.

McCoy is now two adrift of Ruby Walsh, who has secured four winners at this year’s Festival.

Noble Prince (4-1) gave Ireland a 10th success of the week – a joint-record best – and for McCoy, it was his 200th success of the season.
