Blackett is proud of time with Titans

His side narrowly lost 24-16 against leaders Bristol yesterday in their Championship play-offs semi-final second leg having led until the 72nd minute.

It meant they fell 56-36 on aggregate despite challenging the big-spending outfit in both games and, so, this was his last game in charge.

Blackett, 32, moves on to become Wasps back coach in 2015-16 after two fine campaigns in charge of the South Yorkshire club.

“I’m immensely proud of the two teams (last season and this) and the style of rugby we played,” he said, having guided them to third and fourth respectively.

“Hopefully the group can take it on next year and try to be as successful as we have the last couple.

“I’ve not had a second to really think about what happens next for me.

“It will be pretty weird these next couple of days. I’ll still be in the office. I’ve a lot of things to sort out before I leave.

“But once I go it will be a pretty sad day.”

Blackett will help recruit his successor and added: “We’re due to interview at the back end of next week. We should know more in probably the next 10 days.”
