Bradford City v Dagenham & Redbridge: City strikers get extension to impress

League two: AFTER missing out on a striker just before the deadline for loan transfers, Peter Taylor says the remaining nine games will be a chance for the forwards already at the club to stake a claim.

The Bantams were hopeful of snapping up a teenage frontman from the Premier League only for the player in question to suffer an untimely injury.

It means Taylor, in talks over his own future with the Valley Parade board, will go with his existing strikers for the rest of the season, having sent loanee Mark McCammon back to Gillingham. He said: "We did try and get someone in but it wasn't meant to be so that means there is a real chance for those already at the club to impress."

Taylor was delighted with City's efforts in Tuesday's goalless draw with Notts County, rating it as one of the best since he arrived.

He added: "I thought we could see some real progress and I hope the fans thought the same."
