Brighouse star Katie Ormerod ruled out of Snowboard World Championships with back injury

Snowboard star Katie Ormerod has been ruled out of the freestyle World Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain, after sustaining a back injury in training.

British Ski and Snowboard confirmed the Brighouse teenager has "a small, stable fracture in one of her vertebrae" which will rule her out of action for at least six weeks.

The 19-year-old posted a photo of an X-ray showing on social media last night with the message "Thanks Spain for the broken back #yolo".

She added: "Pretty gutted I broke my back yesterday...Luckily it's nothing too serious so I'll be back in less than 6 weeks for the end of season!!"

The injury is a set-back to her preparations ahead of the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.
