Bristol City v Doncaster Rovers: Rovers look in safe hands as Woods signs

DONCASTER Rovers goalkeeper Gary Woods has secured a new two-year deal.

Manager Sean O’Driscoll moved to keep Woods yesterday after a string of impressive performances recently in the first team.

The former Manchester United trainee, 20, is also being tipped to take over in goal on a permanent basis this summer amid speculation surrounding the future of veteran goalkeeper Neil Sullivan.

Now 41, former Scotland international Sullivan is out of contract at the end of the season and had to settle for a place on the bench against Queens Park Rangers last time out following a shin problem.

Rovers visit Bristol City today still seeking points to ensure Championship survival.

With only two victories in the last 18 games, Rovers sit 19th in the table but are nine points clear of the relegation zone.

“Staying in the division has been the aim since the first ball was kicked so there’s no change there,” stressed O’Driscoll. “The way to do that is take one game at a time.”
