Britain blast Estonia

GREAT Britain catapulted themselves into the silver medal position at the World Championships in Kiev after a 7-0 thumping of Estonia yesterday.

A 4-1 defeat of Poland by Ukraine afterwards left Paul Thompson’s team in a strong position to challenge group leaders Kazakhstan for gold in Division 1B.

A seven-goal blitz in the first period killed off Estonia with Phil Hill’s fourth-minute power play strike opening the floodgates. Further goals came in the first 10 minutes from Sheffield Steelers’ duo Ashley Tait and Jonathan Phillips, as well as David Longstaff.
